Siddhārtha Gautama, the Buddha, was an Indian monk, philosopher, and ascetic whose teachings gave rise to Buddhism, an ancient and widely practiced spiritual religion and philosophy.
We place Gautama around the 6th–5th century BCE, with a more or less approximate dating:
His thought, spreading throughout Asia, gave rise to various traditions and schools of thought, each with different sacred texts and practices, Theravāda, Mahāyāna, and Vajrayāna while always maintaining the fundamental principles.
The Sanskrit and Pāli term Buddha, in the religious, spiritual, and cultural context, refers to the one who has awakened, the one who has attained enlightenment, and the foundation of Buddhist philosophy is expressed in considering suffering as part of life, the latter understood and overcome through awareness and inner transformation:
based on the latter, it might seem like an individualistic philosophy;
however, it presents itself as a noble and profound teaching, grounded in a universal disposition toward all beings, revealing how individual experience can be realized through the practice of compassion and helping others.
With this work, I have conveyed the aspect of communion and collective, solemn participation, feeling the latter especially within the temple during its prayer ceremony.
